Self Healing
Have you ever wondered why, despite the progress we have made in our medical fields and technology, that we continue to suffer chronic pain, illnesses and more serious conditions such as cancer?
Have you ever questioned or wondered how taking medicine actually works on our bodies to restore us to health?
Have you ever wondered if there is something else that can be done to complement, enhance and speed up the road back to recovery?
It is wonderful to see so many people are finally beginning to go inward, asking these questions and seeking help in order to take control of their own health and well being. What’s even more encouraging is seeing Medical doctors integrating self-healing techniques with conventional healing methods, such as the Centre for Integrated Healing in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Self healing is all about empowering ourselves to take control of our health, it is about saying that there are other ways to treat illness and it is about taking charge and making a change within ourselves and trying something radically different. I believe that self healing is achieved through:

There is a plethora of information on the market on self healing books giving many different healing techniques and there are as many different practitioners offering various modalities of self healing. So how does one decide which book to read or which practitioner to see? This is where I believe we must get in touch with our "intuition", that “gut feeling”, and trust that whatever it is we are attracted to, no matter what the reason, if it resonates even slightly, then this is exactly what we need at this moment in time.
All illness or disease should be treated as though it is an intrusion on your body, and should be treated the same as if another person were intruding into your personal space. Imagine it as a living breathing being or energy that is fully capable of understanding everything you are saying to it.
Self Healing Exercise
Imagine that you are surrounded by a beautiful big ball of brilliant white, pearlescent light. Then imagine a triangle, within this ball of light and you are situated in the middle of the triangle, you can be sitting in the middle of the triangle or standing just whatever feels the most comfortable for you. Take your right hand and gently hold on to your left hand’s thumb.
Now let the inner triangle fill with the most radiant light you can ever imagine, giving it the hue of which ever color comes to mind. Just start breathing this color into your body and let your body completely relax, thinking only of the light and the color your body is absorbing with every breath.
Now perform a mental scan of your body, starting at the top of the head, if you see any color other than the one in your triangle, just visualize it dissipating and being replaced with the color of your choice. Continue this down your neck and shoulders, down your arms to the finger tips, your upper body and lower body (checking all organs as you go along), down your legs and lastly your feet. Keep repeating the process of dissolving the areas that are not the color of your triangle. Just be completely relaxed and melt into the color until you feel at one with it.
If there are any areas that are hard to shift, simply speak to the blockage and say, “This is my body, my being and I command that you leave now”” (Be very firm, just as if it were another person who was intruding upon your personal space.) Repeat this as many times as needed and visualize this energy leaving your body and disappearing into the brilliant white pearlescent light. Stay in this place for as long as you need to be pain free and enjoy the feeling of complete relaxation.
Like a hot bath or a great massage, the feeling of complete relaxation soon disappears due to the environment and stresses that we live in. However, you can retrieve that feeling of relaxation to some degree by simply taking your right hand and giving your left thumb a gentle squeeze whenever you need it during the day. With continued practice and use you will begin to feel permanent results.
Meditation can take place when you are sitting in a bus,
Or walking in the woods full of light and shadows,
Or listening to the singing of the birds,
Or looking at the face of your wife or child.

Visualize being pain free on the bus instead of being in pain.
Use the light or the shadows you see around you to penetrate your body to heal.
Use the tones of the birds singing as a sound of healing.
Use the beauty of a person and the vitality of a child to create a feeling of wellbeing in your body.
Most important of all, keep releasing the pain and believe that it is working.
Like everything else, self healing takes time and commitment, but know that we all have self-healing capabilities, that our bodies do have their own capacity to self heal and with this in mind that we will heal faster if we integrate it with conventional medicines than without. And finally, know that no other type of healing is complete without the intention of self healing.
