Meditation
By Sindy Taylor
"Meditation is acceptance. It is the
acceptance of life within us, without us and all around us. Acceptance of life is the beginning of human
satisfaction. Transformation of life is the culmination of divine satisfaction."
Sri Chinmoy

Meditation Practice
The practice of meditation is to take the time to witness and observe what the mind is focused on at this moment
in time. When we give attention to and bring light to these thoughts there is a pivotal shift that occurs
which can greatly create calm to the over active mind.
If we observe our daily thoughts we will see that our mind constantly oscillates between the past and
the future and is seldom focused on the present moment in time. Meditation is a beautiful process which can
bring our awareness to the present moment and allow us to ground ourselves so that we are fully present in our
bodies.
When calmness is achieved, contemplation can begin to receive guidance from our
inner knowingness, the intuitive mind. While in meditation, it is possible to put aside all aches and
pains in the body, to relax completely and even achieve feelings of bliss. Like everything else, it
takes time, effort and practice to bring about healing in our bodies through the practice of
meditation.
The practice of meditation is another tool which we can use and incorporate into our
daily lives. One of the initial stages of learning to meditate is to take your focus on the breath,
this is the means by which many meditations will begin, the reason for this is quite simple, when we
are under stress and there is tension in our bodies, the first thing we do is contract our muscles which
stops the free flow of oxygen into the body. This in turn causes aches and pains in the body and loss of
focus and concentration in the mind. In putting your focus on the body you will experience where there is
free flow of breath and where there is tension, as the breath reaches those areas which are tense, the exhale of
the breath will bring relaxation.

Healing Meditation with Words
This 10 minute
breathing meditation is a small introduction to the concept of healing meditations using words.
As you listen to this meditation allow yourself to visualize where in your body the breath goes to as you
breathe in. Then as the word breath is spelled out, see if you are able to see where each letter of the word is
stored. In making the connections from one letter to another, I believe a freer flow of breath in the body is
achieved. If you are unsure and are not able to follow the progress of the breath, there is nothing to worry
about as your subconscious is still doing all the necessary work.
